Reflexions Masterclass

REFLEXIONS-MASTERCLASS

english | français | italiano

Reflexions Masterclass stemmed in Paris in 2003 from the desire to generate a synergy of critical creativity among a group of students from different countries. It is a long term seminar to develop the artistic consciousness, the aesthetic and ethical “vision” of an author. • The seminar is addressed to photographers non-amateur who would intend to identify and sharpen their perceptive skills to a higher awareness in the photographic expression. • The seminar is articulated over 2 years, into 3 annual meetings of 2 days each. It will end and culminate with an exhibition of the participant’s works. • The seminar is directed by Giorgia Fiorio and Gabriel Bauret. Each meeting shall host an international guest: an external “voice - gaze”, a photographer, a curator, an art / photography historian, or sometimes a painter or a writer etc...
The students have to be nominated in order to submit their candidatures to the Masterclass. The candidates will then be short listed by a jury, on the basis of the submitted applications and portfolio. There is no participation fee: the meritocratic principle applied is fundamental to guarantee the highest motivation level. All Reflexions' students so far have supported their own travel and accommodation at their expenses and they will continue to do so. Nonetheless the organisation will try to negotiate accommodation's rates to facilitate the students. Photographic supply such as films, developments and prints etc. are also costs to be covered by students.

WHERE

A schedule will be agreed each time between Masters and students. Meetings (3 per year) will take place in three Mediterranean destinations in Italy (Corigliano Calabro, Naples and Puglia) every 4 months. Each meeting will be 2 days and 2 nights long. Provided we have three locations, over the 2 year seminar, meetings will take place once a year (twice in total) at each of these 3 places.
